Georg goes on the run for his life eluding authorities who are occupying cities and countries, killing or capturing those whose papers are not in order. To stay alive, he takes on a false identity, which leads him to new friends, new places, and a new love that leaves him breathless. In a poignantly selfless act, he gives up everything to save those he loves, only to be haunted by his actions.
