How do children father their parents? Beautifully rendered and poetically observed, Star Boys captures the symbiotic relationship between parents and their children. Shortly after finding their parents engaged in a sexually charged party, Vesa and his childhood friend Karrlo begin to comprehend what once felt like merely “background noise” between adults. Arguments, glances, and quiet actions now all have meaning. They suddenly have awakened perspective on their parents and hear the rhythms of their relationships to one another. The innocent lens with which they once understood the world around them now begins to recognize adulthood, and their actions and reactions now have consequences.
