Symphony In D

Running time: 53 mins

What does a city sound like? To answer that question, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and composer Tod Machover from the MIT Media Lab asked for sound recording submissions from ordinary Detroiters, listened to street noises, and delved deeper into the city's history. Out of the cacophony, Machover crafted recordings into a collaborative symphony, shared in a final performance by the orchestra, joined on stage by local poets, musicians, and spoken word artists. An exploration and a celebration of the history and future of the iconic city of Detroit, this is a joyous portrait of a thriving arts community. – Megan Koehler Presented In Honor Of Jim Boyce Preceded by the short film: The Wizard Oz; dir.
