The Listen Project: The First Five Years

Running time: 75 mins

Music: the universal language. No matter from what corner of the world you come, or color of your skin, or language you speak, at the heart of every culture lies the basis of what makes their culture: music. The Listen Project is an ongoing journey and ever-growing library of intimate and rarely seen performances of artists from every corner of the globe, as they attempt to answer the unanswerable: "What would we put into a time capsule that will be opened in 1000 years?" A narrative that spans from the beginning of time is spun through different cultures. From the bellowing drums and throat vocalization of Kazakhstan to the traditional songs and dances of Argentina, art is exhibited and explored as audiences witness the expression of the human spirit at its most basic and experience what it means to turn sorrow into joy and happiness. – Joseph Morales Preceded by the short film: With Children; dir.
