Brother

Running time: 100 mins

How do you take revenge on someone who's already dead? A loathsome and embittered recluse, Mark, harbors decades of resentment after his deceased brother, Michel, stole the love of his life. Mark's solitary life changes when a widowed heiress, Grace, mistakes him for Michel and wants to rekindle a passionate affair after twenty years. He impersonates Michel, exploiting his lover and her money for the ultimate act of retribution beyond the grave. But Mark's labyrinth of lies crumbles when he realizes Grace has ulterior motives of her own.

Award-winning director Geoffrey Enthoven (whose films Halfway, Come As You Are, and The Over the Hill Band have all screened at Cinequest) concocts a visually arresting psychological thriller that pulsates with noir-tinged complexity. Brother is a story about how one woman's plea for love becomes one man's scheme for vengeance. - Kady Le
