The Racket Boys
Running time: 80 mins
Three people and their pursuit of happiness.
A modern existential comedy that pays homage to French New Wave directors such as Jean-Luc Godard and Eric Rohmer, The Racket Boys is also a tribute to the creative spirit, passion, and our individuality.
The cheating boyfriend is certainly a familiar story, but when the impulsive Kara catches hers with another woman, it incites her to convince her best friend Alex to take an impromptu and seriously underfunded road trip from LA to San Francisco. It's their pact that they will try anything along the way--including inviting a knife-wielding hitchhiker on their journey or a little theft of food and gas--that allows them to write their own story and, hopefully, to find their true place in this world.
Preceded by the short film: The Immigrant; dir. Josh Levy; Canada; 20min; A once-famous comedian tries a comeback, but is rejected by everyone excepted the migrant workers who help show him how to make it in America.
