Without Internet access and the ability to obtain information or advice regarding agriculture or business, many farmers in poor or hard to reach rural areas do not see their businesses thriving. Grameen Foundation USA received the Flextronics Economic Development Award at The Tech Awards 2012 by creating a social enterprise that has 800 Community Knowledge Workers travel to farms and share agriculture information with small-holder farmers with their on-hand smartphones.
