A nod to Romero?s classic zombie films, The Dead takes place in a post-zombie-apocalyptic Africa where survivors are few and far between. As the sole survivor from a rescue plane that crashed over the desert, Lieutenant Brian Murphy is on a quest to return to the States and find his wife and daughter amidst a sea of languid, flesh mongering undead. On his journey he runs into another man in search of his own family. They join forces to try to make their way to a military base where the remaining survivors are hiding out, but it?s no easy task when zombies are surrounding you at every turn and ammunition is scarce. Though a nod to Romero, the Ford brothers deviate from the classic zombie plot just in time to keep you guessing and thinking about the social and cultural implications of the impending zombie invasion.
