Snow
Running time: 87 mins
Rain washes away, snow melts and fog dissipates, but in fact, everything in life is transient.
Parvati?s life in rural Sri Lanka seems perfect--she and her sister are both promised to be married in a matter of months and their family is close knit and happy. Then the unthinkable occurs: Parvati?s life is washed away by a tsunami. With her family and her home both gone, she moves to Canada to live with distant relatives. The watery nightmare haunts Parvati throughout her journey to adjust to suburban life after her displacement; find a job, love and a sense of hope. After being thrown out of her uncle?s house for her acclimatizing indiscretions, she embarks on a cross country trip to see the ocean and to face her demons.
In his debut narrative feature, Rohan Fernando crafts a story rich with symbolism and depth--captivating at every turn. Snow captures the tragedy that can befall the displaced but also hints at the renewal that can be born of it.
