Samuel Bleak

Samuel Bleak

Running time: 105 mins

When a terrified mute is found living alone in the woods, the town of Whiterain and its residents will never be the same.

The town of Whiterain is small and relatively quiet. This is especially true for Samuel Bleak (Dustin Schuetter), who fled the town as a young boy carrying nothing but his typewriter. Police Chief Ruben Ramirez (David Zayas of Dexter) finds Samuel nearly 20 years later living in a makeshift cabin in the woods, silently typing away. After a brief stint in the town jail, Samuel is moved by Ramirez to the Whiterain Mental Hospital to be under the care of his wife, Roselyn (Deborah Kara Unger of The Game). The Ramirezes begin to unravel Samuel?s identity and his past, connecting him with his alcoholic father (James Russo of Public Enemies) while continuing to uncover the mysterious circumstances that made Samuel run away into isolation.

With emotionally-laden performances, which also include Jaime Murray (Dexter) and Keith David (ER, The Job), director/writer/actor Dustin Schuetter beautifully captures the tone of small town life, while simultaneously revealing the puzzle pieces which make up his shocking and intricate mystery-drama.
