Restive
Running time: 93 mins
An intense, visually-stunning tale of a woman?s flight to escape the past that has made her family?s life hell.
After years of abuse, Jeva has had enough, and in one swift action to protect her family, she sets forth on a course from which she can?t return. What follows becomes a surreal journey both unexpected and unimaginable as Jeva and her son are pursued by her husband?s two friends through the darkening woods that surround them.
To say that Jeremiah Jones? Restive is simply about domestic violence would be a disservice to the vision behind its creation. Although on one end, it does deal with the emotional turmoil of abuse, it also accomplishes much more through its startling depiction of the lengths to which a mother will go to keep her child from the same fate as hers. Along with powerful performances from Marianna Palka (Good Dick), Christopher Denham (El Camino, Cinequest 2008), Michael Mosley (Scrubs), and Ivan Sandomire (Taking Woodstock), Jones proves he?s an arresting talent to watch.
