Alcohol problem? Check. Crappy job? Check. Philandering husband with a fatal heart problem and no life insurance? Check. The promise that life really can?t get any worse? Check.

Laura (Jenna Fischer of The Office) enjoys a few too many beers each day while dealing with her lackluster job as a dental hygienist and trying to raise her distant son with a workaholic husband (Chris O?Donnell of Cookie?s Fortune and Scent of a Woman) all under the guidance of her overbearing sister (Brooke Smith of Grey?s Anatomy) and mother (Lesley Ann Warren of Victor Victoria). But hey, it could be worse - that is, until her husband dies of arrhythmia during a reconciliatory ?sex act.? To top it all off, her son changes schools and tells everyone that his father died as a fire fighter in 9/11 because, well, that?s way cooler than dying of arrhythmia.

Laura is simultaneously appalling and endearing in her quest to set things right with herself and her demanding family and to find her way back to the surface from the depths of her bizarre life in this finely crafted dark comedy of love, loss and redemption.
