Road to Sangam

Running time: 135 mins

In India, the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi, who brought together Hindus and Muslims in a common cause, lives on. So does the bus that carried his ashes to the Ganges ? if only they can get the motor fixed!

A Muslim mechanic, whose sense of honor compels him to value his commitment to a very special job, finds himself caught between the demands of local religious and secular leaders and the demands of his heart and conscience.

Featuring quietly restrained performances by Paresh Rawal and Indian film icon Om Puri, this gentle film evokes Gandhi?s philosophy of tolerance, justice, honor and nonviolent persistence. Though it is the story of a Muslim community, it is equally the universal story of an Everyman, a man of good will determined to try to bring people together through understanding rather than drive them apart with dogma, prejudice and blind obedience.
