A Bus Came...
Running time: 100 mins
Made up of five loosely connected sketches tied together by a Budapest bus route, A Bus Came... is the collective work of five directors, ten writers, five cinematographers, four editors, four composers and a multitude of actors. The mini-films, which contrast starkly with one another in regard to atmosphere and style, range from an unusual love story to unlucky shoes; from a crime story to a bloody opera; and even a comic book-like battle between good and evil, directed by Gy?rgy P?lfi (Hukkle, Cinequest 2003), and set against a backdrop of modern Budapest nights to depict Daedalus crying out for vengeance to allay his loss of Icarus, and the ensuing mystical battle when the Sorcerer sets out to thwart him. Visually stunning and delicately balancing drama with absurd humor, A Bus Came... is a treat for audiences and a film that will have audiences talking. - Al Owens
