I'm the Father
Running time: 98 mins
Marco is leading the good life, climbing the ladder of success, and doing plenty of heavy partying. He just canÕt seem to find the time for his patient wife, Melanie, and their 6-year-old son, Benny. Unable to wait for Marco to be a part of the family, Melanie decides she wants out, and takes Benny with her. Frustrated by the lack of time he gets to spend with his son-a concern that never fazed him when they were together-Marco becomes more and more agitated, finally taking matters into his own hands. When Marco finally realizes that his self-absorbed life is empty without his son, it just may be too late. Acclaimed director Dani Levy (The Giraffe) does not take sides in his touching portrait of a modern familyÕs failed ambitions. Marco is immature and somewhat irresponsible, but is it reason enough to keep him from his son? Melanie tries to be fair, but can she risk the well being of their son? As their positions become more and more entrenched, a once loving couple becomes antagonists. Co-scripted by Rona Munro (Ladybird Ladybird), IÕm the Father is a highly topical drama that shows how destructive custody battles can be, especially to the children - the ones who matters the most. - Sandy Wolf
