Paths in the Night

Running time: 98 mins

Fifty-five year old Walter used to be somebody, somebody with power and purpose, somebody driven by his conscience to do good- and now society tells him he's no longer needed. Screw that! Having trouble sleeping, roaming the night streets with a couple of recruitments, and just keeping things in order by fighting "evil"--these are Walter's code, until one day he realizes that his work is fruitless and unwanted by society as a whole. Walter is about to explode, and in the process, he may take all of those he loves with him. Intuitive and exquisite in its lyrical portrayal of human nature, Paths in the Night marks the feature directorial debut of Andreas Kleinert. Filmed in gorgeous black and white, Kleinhert's multi-award winning masterpiece brilliantly depicts the frailty of the human spirit and its quest for purpose. Awards: Best Actor - Karlovy Vary International Film Festival; Best Feature Film - Filmfest Potsdam; Best Director - Film Fest Hof; Official Selection - Cannes Film Festival. --Mike Rabehl
