Tierra

Running time: 125 mins

Angel suffers in a world of vastness and complexity; a world where he needs not only adhere to the concrete rules of earth but strive for a greater link to the cosmos. You see, the source of Angel's "anguish" stems from his own fear of and attraction to death and a unique split personality where one persona is man and the other an angel; half alive and half dead. Angel has come to a small town to rid the crops of a plague of lice which has been giving the local wine a strange, earthy taste and texture. But Angel's "other voice" tells him that he is there for something else, something that is more important than wine. In step Angela and Mari, the two women who give Angel the chance to resolve his inner conflict and to, hopefully, define the two sides of his personality. With the influence of his new loves, one a seductive eighteen-year-old and one a simple married woman, Angel's journey is no longer a question of how to rid the soil of a louse, but how to anchor himself to his own small portion of Tierra and to his own small island of knowledge and light; a light whose beacon steers Angel from his strange attraction to the void that is Death. --Mike Rabehl
