All Men Are Liars

Running time: 87 mins

It's Sugar Week in small-town Worondilla, and visiting all-woman band "Total Fire" is in trouble. Lead singer Angie's boyfriend, the band's roadie, has been fooling around with guitarist Jo. He's given the boot and takes Jo with him, leaving the band in desperate need of a new player. Meanwhile, Mick has an "image problem"--people think he's gay. But his dad, the local barber/Elvis wanna-be, is going to help him with that. Then Mick's mom leaves because her husband used her heirloom piano to pay a debt. Mick's solution? If this is Australia, it must be cross-dressing! As Michelle, Mick gets the gig and (you guessed it) falls for Angie, who feels strangely attracted to her new "girlfriend." Unfortunately for Mick, she's just vowed to kill the next guy who lies to her. If all of this sounds vaguely familiar (comparisons with Some Like It Hot are inevitable), Lee's light-as-air direction and some truly memorable performances make this film a must-see for fans of romantic comedies. Already a box office hit in Australia, All Men Are Liars is sure to be the biggest cross-dressing crossover film since The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. --Rod Myers
