Whiz Kids

Whiz Kids

Running time: 80 mins

It?s time we once again put science at the top of our agenda and work to restore America?s place as the world leader in science and technology.? ?Barack Obama

Award-winning filmmakers Tom Shepard and Tina DiFeliciantonio?s Whiz Kids follows the inspirational stories of three remarkable and passionate scientists who, at the age of 17, are already improving lives and our future.

The Intel Science Talent Search is the oldest, most prestigious science competition in America?with over two thousand students competing each year until forty finalists are chosen to present their research to top scientists. Through the eyes of the spitfire Ana Cisneros, a first generation Ecuadorian American whose parents came to the U.S. in search of a better life; the earnest environmental watchdog and daughter of a former DuPont chemist, Kelydra Welcker; and Pakistani born Harmain Khan, a mercurial teen with enormous dreams; Whiz Kids looks at ambition through youthful eyes?through those not interested in personal gain, but with hopes that they can truly make a difference. Along the way, questions are raised about courage, personal sacrifice, success and failure, and in the process, they learn as much about themselves as they do about science.
