"Life isn't over at 60. It's just the beginning."

Hip-hop and senior citizens aren't words usually associated together, but in director Dori Berinstein's exuberant and affectionate documentary, they form a combination sure to change your preconceptions about age. When the New Jersey Nets hold auditions for members of a new dance team called "The Metsationals," thirteen hopefuls, ranging in age from 60 to 82, come to put on a show. Long rehearsals pave the way to their halftime performance, and along the way we come to meet and cheer for these performers, who include a shy schoolteacher who comes up with a carefree alter-ego and a grandfather who puts the swing lessons of his younger days to rousing use. Showing how a passion for dancing and living can transcend any age barriers, Gotta Dance is a joyous experience.
