Another Man
Running time: 89 mins
A critic?s life suddenly has more drama than the films he?s reviewing.
François has just landed a position as a film critic with a small-town theater. It?s a movie lover?s dream job, but there?s only one problem: He knows practically nothing about cinema.
Not letting such a detail stand in his way, François passes another paper?s articles off as his own. Though his newfound obsession starts popping up in his relationship to his girlfriend, Christine, it?s not until he meets fellow writer Rosa that he starts to discover how hard it is to separate the real person from the ambitious reviewer. A kinky relationship begins with Rosa; an affair that is at once filled with kinky sex, yet also sadistic because of Rosa?s delight in exposing Francois? inadequacies.
Movie buffs will love the sly cinematic references, but it is the moody satire generated by French filmmaker Lionel Baier that lingers most impressively.
Film would be rated NC-17.
