The Reject

Running time: 103 mins

Misfortunes can sometimes wreck your life and clear your mind at the same time.

Alternately exhilarating and harrowing and anchored by a sly performance by Svetozar Cvetkovic, The Reject haunts and delights, often suggesting a Serbian version of The Big Lebowski.

In The Reject, veteran director Milos Radivojevic?s wry and unpredictable social satire, getting fired opens a rabbit hole of mishaps both dark and amusing. When middle-aged Belgrade businessman On loses his position for being ?too scrupulous and easygoing,? it seems as though he?s ready to succumb to self-pity. One night, however, after drowning his sorrows at the local casino, he?s attacked by a mysterious group of black-clad goons. Just as strangely, On comes upon a huge stash of money. While trying to find a connection between the two occurrences and watching over his young daughter and elderly mother, he finds himself reluctantly turning into a private eye investigating his own road to salvation.
