Autism: The Musical

Running time: 93 mins

Winner - Kaiser Permanente Thrive Award Can a group of autistic kids really pull off a live musical?

Inspiring, joyful and heartwarming are not typical terms associated with autism. But when a group of kids, led by a determined teacher and director, who is also a parent to one of the kids, embark on a journey to put on a full-length musical play, all bets are off.

A mesmerizing six-month journey follows this intrepid group creating and preparing for a live musical, where we get an intimate look inside the world of autism, from the perspective of both the children and their families. Displaying energy, patience and understanding, their teacher helps each child to give of him/herself what few thought he/she possessed. And as the kids progress from chaos to collaboration to achievement, lessons are learned not only by these inspirational children, but also by the adults who love them.
