In Black Tape: A Tehran Diary, a video tape found in the garbage is revealed to be a young Kurdish wife?s daily video diary. The film follows Galavije who is quickly shown to be not much more than a sex slave to her Iranian husband. Told from Galavije?s video diary accounts, the film slowly reveals Galavije?s imprisonment by her husband as well as his murky involvement with the military. After she becomes pregnant, she begins to fear for her life and starts fighting back. The film courageously investigates injustice through its combination of political intrigue and innovative narrative technique.
