Joshua joined Samsung after gaining extensive research and development experience in the U.S. Marine Corps. Similarly, it is tossing aside artistic limitations and revolutionizing the future of media. Come learn about some of this technology paving the way for the creation of content that you’ve never thought possible. Presenter: Buzz Hays, Head of Product at Lytro, Inc. Buzz Hays is Head of Product at Lytro Inc., the award-winning company using light field technology to radically change the future of immersive entertainment. He began working at Lytro after founding the Sony 3D Technology Center, creating the Stereoscopic 3D Production Program at UT Austin, and founding the Advanced Imaging Society. Lytro is working to implement the generational shift from legacy 2D imaging to 3D volumetric Light Field video for VR, AR, and MR. In his workshop about “Leading Edge VR Tech”, Hays will discuss Lytro and other emerging technologies paving the way for the creation of high-quality immersive entertainment. SATURDAY MARCH 3, 2018 VR WORKSHOP #3 3:00PM -- PART I - WHAT WORKS IN VR? VR is still an emerging field and its future remains a mystery. How will humanity consume this exciting new medium? What techniques will creators employ to create the best, most engaging content? What will be the magical ingredients of successful virtual reality? Presenter: Max Salomon, Executive VR and 360 Producer at Black Dot Films Max Salomon is a multiple Emmy award-winning executive producer, writer and director of documentaries & non-fiction programming who recently co-founded Black Dot Films VR, a leading VR and 360 film production company. Black Dot has already produced more than 30 VR films for National Geographic, which have racked up more than 150 million views. Additionally, he serves as creative director for VR advertisements commissioned by large international consumer brands. He believes in the importance of putting “the story and content first” when it comes to VR.
