Digital by Digital #1: Digital Cinema The Future of Digital Moviemaking

Running time: N/A

Michael Wohl, one of the principal designers of Apple's Final Cut Pro software, will discuss how emerging technology is changing filmmaking, both technically and aesthetically. How can filmmakers take advantage of technology to make better movies, not just cheaper ones? Sure, it's gotten easier to make a movie, but how can new tools like 24p, virtual collaborations, and grassroots marketing combine to expand the possibilities of storytelling? In addition to his role as a principal designer of Apple's Emmy award winning software, Michael is the author of "Editing Techniques with Final Cut Pro". His digital feature, WANT, is premiering in Cinequest's Emerging Mavericks section this year. His 1993 film, Theatereality won the coveted CINE Golden Eagle award. He co-founded and served for several years as co-artistic director of Bare Witness Productions, an award-winning ensemble of filmmakers and actors exploring new approaches to storytelling based on new technologies.
