Afro Promo

Afro Promo

Running time: N/A

Cinequest is excited to have Jenni Olson back for the second year running. Last year's Trailer Camp was a great After Hours crowd pleaser, and we're expecting no less from this year's offering.

Afro Promo is another prime selection of trailers, this time from black features of the 40's (Song of the South) through the 70's (Foxy Brown). Sure, the 70's blaxploitation films we so love to parody are here, but so are the "culture issue" pictures -- Edge of the City, The Defiant Ones -- of the 50's. There are some wonderfully obscure selections that'll take you by surprise -- Cool Breeze; Norman, Is That You? -- as well as others you've probably been waiting to see your whole life -- Mandingo, Blacula.

What's the one trailer you'll be expecting but won't see? Mahogany. They just couldn't find it. Olson jokes, "It's the bane of my existence." If you loved Trailer Camp, you won't want to miss Afro Promo. We can't wait for Jenni's upcoming collection of Jewish-themed previews, Trailers, Schmailers.
