Shorts Program 3 - Docu-Nation. After a two-year hiatus, Docu-Nation returns, populated by tales of life, love, lips and Louisiana. Through views of our world, we are treated to grand dissertations on the meaning of the activities around us: from the deadly serious to the sadly true, from the powerfully moving to the truly hilarious. This year features the sights and sounds of Boston nightlife, the joy of collectors and their trophies, a study of the female kiss and shorts on tasty and mysterious animals. A look at the world post-9/11 mingles with the significance of Zapotec ceremony. Filmmakers from Canada, Mexico and across the United States give us the world through their eyes, including two excellent documentaries from students at Stanford University. Combining comedy, experimentation, political thought and music, Docu-Nation will enlighten, entertain and enrage, all at the same time. Reviewed by Chris Garcia
