When dumped by his girlfriend, a man must do what a man must do - in this case, get the hell out of town and move to New York City. Thatâ??s precisely where this story begins.Immediately upon arrival in The Big Apple, our hero (or The Brit) learns that the small apartment his sister got him includes another occupant. Enter Panama, who doesnâ??t speak a word of English and is in hiding from the police. While attempting to communicate in different languages (often resulting in hilarious tête-à -têtes), a budding friendship forms between two people stuck in an outlandish situation. The Brit and Country, a street kid from The Hood, have quite a different kind of relationship, however, especially since their first encounter involves Countryâ??s mugging of The Brit in a menâ??s room. Then, thereâ??s Cyd, mother of one. When her daughter wanders off in the park, Cyd finds her befriending The Brit and accuses him of kidnapping. Not the best way to begin a romance.Director Ef Treize develops characters who couldnâ??t be more different, yet all are picking up the pieces of their unfulfilled lives. Treizeâ??s clever, comic style gives insight into each character and asks if it is fate or our own idiosyncrasies and foibles that allow us to connect with the people for whom we truly care.Sandy WolfCINEQUEST DXD
