Graveyard Alive - A Zombie Nurse in Love

Running time: N/A

A stylish zombie love story with a dry sense of humor, Graveyard Alive - A Zombie Nurse in Love assumes the eerie setting of a hospital, a veritable restaurant for ravished ghouls. Patsy, an introverted nurse, reads romance novels and watches soaps. When a decaying lumberjack manages to bite our wallflower heroine, she morphs into a flesh eating sex-kitten intent on winning back her old sweetheart, the conceited and clueless Dr. Dox. However, Patsy's lame flame is already engaged to Goodie, a bitchy prude who, despite appearances (long legs and short dresses), refuses to give doc what he wants - "Not until we're married." And once Patsy learns to deal with her new affliction, mastering the art of procuring corpses to gnaw on, while effectively and erotically reeling in the randy Dox, Goodie had better watch out. Ripe with allusions to classic horror films, director Elza Kephart's Graveyard Alive brilliantly evokes German Expressionist horror movies with glorious black and white cinematography and a sparse but compelling soundtrack. It's an exceptional addition to the zombie tradition that's unique and fun. - Robert Mello
