Turn Right By the Yellow Dog

Running time: N/A

North American Premiere. Philip is a successful architect, a single dad having a difficult time with his 16-year-old son. When he learns of his father's death, a father who abandoned him years ago, Philip makes an obligatory journey to the funeral, only to find that he has a burning need to discover who this man was that he had resented for his entire life. At the funeral, Philip meets Karl, his father's friend at the nursing home, and Karl sees an opportunity he can't pass up. As Karl moves out of the nursing home and in with Philip, both father and son use Karl as the surrogate dad they had always hoped for. Karl is delighted with his newfound good fortune and opulent lifestyle and seeks to share it with a female friend whom he invites for more than just a visit. But both Philip and the charming Karl are in for big surprises with both amusing and poignant results. Director Peter Ringgaard's Turn Right by the Yellow Dog is an affectionate and heartwarming comedy about the sorrows and joys of family that reveals that while it is not easy to replace missing love, under the right circumstances, and with luck, the tenderness that is within all of us can be found. - Sandy Wolf
