The Legend Of Dolemite: Bigger And Badder

The Legend Of Dolemite: B

Running time: N/A

World Premiere A maverick in every sense of the word, Rudy Ray Moore is Dolemite, blaxploitation star, "off color" recording artist, and influence to two generations of rappers. After starting out as an early R&B singer, Moore began recording explicit language "party records," paving the way for the likes of Redd Foxx, Richard Pryor, and Eddie Murphy. During the mid-70's, at a time when films were being produced for an African-American audience hungry for heroes of their own, Moore decided to produce films starring his Dolemite character, a man who fought lions and could kill women with a kiss. Intentionally outrageous and outlandish in their day, the Dolemite films are even more hilarious today-filled with dazzling arrays of funky outfits, harems of kung-fu fightin' and scantily clad prostitutes, as Dolemite outwitted "The Man" at every turn. Dolemite was discovered by early rappers, who adopted his rhythmic profane language. Snoop Dogg, The Beastie Boys, and Ice-T are just some of the colorful characters who share their thoughts about this fine, fine super-fine legendary figure, who still performs today in a style that continues to be "bigger and badder" than anyone else around. - Sandy Wolf. Preceded by: Gaydar (Larry LaFond, United States/20min/Digital Beta) Randy has a huge crush on hunky Jack, but he can't figure out if Jack's gay until he discovers a Gayday Gun that could change everything.
