World Premiere Cinequest is proud to present the World Premiere of Rachel Raney and David Murray's Livermore. This offbeat film unearths one suburban town's long forgotten yet often hilarious history. Livermore's 25 year-old time capsule has inexplicably disappeared, and a handful of eccentric locals are the last hope in finding it. Part history, part mystery, but mostly comedy, Livermore introduces a memorable cast of characters, each with a distinct vision of the town -- from romanticized tributes to scathing send-ups of suburban life. As they dig deep into their collective memories, these armchair historians uncover a peculiar set of stories. A supernatural light bulb, a mysterious totem pole, a scandalous book of photographs, and the ominous nuclear lab are just the beginning of a surreal trip down memory lane. Stranger still is how all roads lead back to the missing time capsule, and its odd collection of contents. In an age of megastores, monster tract houses, and coast-to-coast homogenization, Livermore is a testament to the power of preservation and a celebration of civic pride. Reviewed by Brian Benston and Al Owens. Livermore is a shown as a double-feature with Terri DeBono and Steve Rosen's inspirational Accidental Hero: Room 408.
