Bay Area's own Pam Walton (Family Values) returns to Cinequest with the powerful, inspiring, and controversial Call to Witness, a look at the current battle regarding gays and lesbians in the pulpit. Walton's film explores the life of several members of the gay and lesbian Lutheran clergy who have either been defrocked or are currently under persecution by their own church. The film probes the Lutheran church's acceptance of gays and lesbians until they want to become ministers, asking the question, when religious leaders want gays and lesbians to come to God, what happens when they not only find God, but also want to participate in the Word of God? -- Christopher Lion
