Childhood ended for Francis when her parents died. Since then, she has cooked, cleaned and cared for her brothers. But this stagnant life is no longer an option for her, as Francis desires something much more; a life of her own. Dwight, a mysterious new stranger, becomes a catalyst for Francis to reach for that dream. Hank, Francis' oldest brother, does not approve of Dwight. In fact, Hank seems to have a very strong animosity for Dwight. This proves difficult for Francis, as she has had little time for romance and her search for love and understanding seems to have found its reward. But rewards take work to achieve, and Francis must work to see if she can convince her domineering brother that he needs to untie the knots. Director David Orr creates a haunting tale of family and the hardships of love in a film which he says is his homage to the great American playwright Tennessee Williams. Laurel Holloman (Incredibly True Adventures of Two Girls In Love) gives a powerful and striking performance as Francis, the young woman who must find herself and release her imprisoned heart. Blossom Time (Winner, Audience Award for Best Feature at the 1996 Florida Film Festival) is David Orr's first feature film and was shot in Tennessee Williams' hometown in Mississippi. --Mike Rabehl
