Indestructible

Running time: 121 mins

When a filmmaker turns the camera on himself and records his degenerating bout with Lou Gehrig's disease, he begins an emotional and spiritual journey unlike any other.

Meet 31 year-old Ben Byer, a single father diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease, a neuromuscular disease that attacks the body on the most base levels and rapidly diminishes the quality of life. Given the prognosis of two to five years to live, Byer begins to document his life and search for an effective treatment?traveling across country, to Greece and eventually to China to undergo an experimental operation. However, as Byer recovers at home with his son, he realizes the operation was not a success.

Filled with humor, tears and moments of insight, Byer?s Indestructible is one man?s celebration of life. ?My initial purpose in making this film was to share the extraordinary moments, both dark and light, of a life with ALS, and there are many. I now believe Indestructible will be a catalyst, and mark a turning point for the millions who have and will suffer the wrath of this elusive beast, bringing us one step closer to what every sick person wants?a cure.? ? Ben Byer
