The screenings of Man Exposed have been CANCELLED.A ?not-so-holy? priest loses his sense of self when he becomes a candidate to be ordained as a bishop in the brilliant new comedy, Man Exposed, by director Aku Louhimies (Lovers and Leavers ? Best Narrative Feature, Cinequest, 2003).
Pitkanen, an overweight priest with a ponytail who likes to drink and play in a rock band, is a candidate to become the next Bishop. Forced to fire his alcoholic best friend to placate the Bishop, and under pressure to get his wife pregnant, things go from bad to worse for Pitkanen when he suddenly falls for a young woman who works in the Church. Pitkanen becomes stuck between two classes: the lower ranking priests with their more modern ideologies; and the more traditional bishops that he must please for his candidacy: his wife and his in-laws. Already struggling with the high expectations his candidacy brings, Pitkanen suffers the unbearable lows of loss, insecurity and humiliation in his journey to realize his ideals.
Man Exposed is not only a hilarious comedy, but also an unflinching, brutally honest and moving account of a man struggling to keep his sense of self when his ideals are being pulled in two directions.
