Love Sick

Running time: 85 mins

The affair between two young women and the jealousy of one desperate brother are about to come to a head. Christina is in love with Alex, her fellow female university student in Bucharest. Their relationship is not openly accepted in by their families so they clandestinely mask their romance as a close friendship. Alex also has a close bond with her brother, Sandu, maybe even too close. As Sandu shows his resentment towards Christina, she begins to think there might be something a little strange about the filial affinity Sandu shows towards her girlfriend.

Ioana Barbu and Maria Popistasu affectionately play two young lovers discovering themselves and their burgeoning sexuality. First time love can be both exhilarating and heartbreaking, but when society frowns upon your choice of mate, heartfelt emotions are heightened. For Alex, her sexual orientation makes her feel like an outcast, but her confused feelings for her brother only exacerbate the situation. For Christina, bewilderment turns to despair until she finds the strength to do what is best for her. Intriguing, disturbing and tender, Love Sick is an emotional journey well worth taking.
