The Big Day

Running time: 90 mins

Anne is a wedding planner prepared to pull out all the stops in her new business. Her partner in this endeavor is Jesper, Denmark?s only homophobic gay guy. And while Anne shares in the joy and grandeur of the big day for her clients, she has a problem taking the plunge herself. Struggling to get the business going, Anne makes the mistake of falling for a prospective client. And what is worse is that not only is the guy a groom to be, but he and his soon-to-be-bride are Denmark?s morning TV equivalent of Regis and Kathy Lee.

It is soon apparent that Anne and Jesper are much better at planning weddings than their own lives. Anne can?t decide whether to follow her heart and pursue a man who seems out of her league or marry a man who is caring, decent, and stiflingly boring. Jesper?s problems are not following his heart but trying to accept where it is leading him.

Director Morten Arnfred has created an outrageous romantic comedy which reveals the absurdities of not only planning a wedding but of the institution of marriage itself. Touching and charming, The Big Day will have you rooting for unlikely couples who have the good sense of realizing that the most important thing in life is not what others think, but their own happiness.
