God and Gays: Bridging the Gap

Running time: 90 mins

World Premiere

The conflict between homosexuality and Christianity remains a hot-button topic. Having undergone sexual and spiritual discoveries of her own, director Luane Beck has turned her camera onto the subject for God & Gays ? Bridging the Gap, her heartfelt, emotional documentary about personal struggles and, above all, a striking testament for tolerance.

?As Christians we must teach God?s love for all his beloved children.? So says a woman in the opening protest, but, as testimonies reveal during the course of the picture, there are still many areas of struggle to be covered. Beck talks to a woman who believed it?s better for her daughter to be dead than gay, another who?s chosen not to assume her lesbianism, and believers who consider themselves ?ex-gays,? all wrestling with the line between spiritual and personal fulfillment.

Instead of facilely picking sides, the movie humanizes every testimony in search of an end to prejudice. Including interviews with such noted spiritual leaders as Mel White (Sol Force), Alan Chambers (Exodus), actor Jason Stuart and author Darlene Bogle, God & Gays remains a scrupulously compassionate and ultimately uplifting search for love, identity and faith.
