Man Underground

Running time: 92 mins

Is his message paranoid delusion or dark truth? Conspiracy theorist Willem knows the government is hiding aliens—he's seen them himself, or so he claims. But how best to raise awareness and convince people of the “truth”? He decides to make a movie about his life, reenacting the strange events he faced while working as a geologist and portraying how they affected his crumbling marriage. An unusual man in a familiar world, Willem recruits his affable friend Todd and local waitress Flossie to produce his low-budget film. But as Willem confronts his past, something much darker emerges. Directors Michael Borowiec and Sam Marine have created an impeccable blend of madness, whimsicalness, and science fiction that will have audiences buzzing long afterwards. - Pia Chamberlain
