Beef is an anxiety-ridden Cuban man who fancies himself The Strongest Man in the World -- a belief he wants to share with his grandchildren (yet, he doesn't want kids of his own). His best friend Conan helps center Beef, while a young girl Illy, reveals Beef's restless side. When Beef's most prized possession -- his gold BMX bike -- is stolen, his ensuing quest to recover it leads him to both find and lose more than he ever expected. Director Kenny Riches returns to the festival (previously with the premiere of his debut feature Must Come Down in 2012) with a truly enchanting comedy, and one that is as insightful as it is funny and unpredictable. - Michael Rabehl
