Dirty Beautiful

Running time: 95 mins

It takes two to make a relationship crazy. A lonely, obsessive and unsuccessful filmmaker meets an aimless drifter and before he knows it, she's living in his tiny LA apartment. He's an eco-freak with a love of post-it notes, keeping his recyclables separate from his trash, and unconventional romances on Netflix. She's an unscrupulous young woman who would rather have an IV of tequila straight into her liver than deal with adult responsibilities. Unable to stand each other and yet not able to leave, both of them vow to make the other's life a living hell. In between their petty feuds, binge drinking nights and drugged out days, something unpredictable happens. Director Tim Bartell's debut feature depicts an unusual modern relationship with the universal truth that, sometimes, we are most drawn to the imperfections we see in others. - Nina Zheng
