In Cambodia, Nepal, India, Bangladesh, and Vietnam, more than 200 people are threatened by arsenic poisoning from the only water resource they have available. Arup K. SenGuta's effort that won him the Intel Environment Award at The Tech Awards 2012, Transforming Arsenic into an Economic Enterprise, found a filter material that is successful in removing the water's concentrations of arsenic. And the simple-to-operate technology used for the water's filtration allows the arsenic-affected people to reactivate the filter material, continue to drink clean water, and generate revenue all at the same time.
