A brother, a sister, two hitch hikers, two continents... and one very big world.

Brother and sister, Ellen and Ben, are separated by the Pacific Ocean, yet mysteriously their lives are connected. In Japan, Ellen meets recently retired businessman Nakata while she hitchhikes her way to Tokyo along the beautiful Umikongo coast. Across the ocean, Ben heads up the California coast with his own spirited hitchhiker, Sara, on his way to Big Sur for a mysterious quest. All of them have suffered devastating losses and must try to start over. But as the road unfolds, their destinies unexpectedly entwine and their lives change, as does their understanding of brotherhood, friendship and love.

With their contemplative film, Pierre-Adrian Irle and Valentin Rotelli?s highly original storytelling techniques offer a perspective on a world that is both larger and smaller than we can imagine -- while showing us what it takes to truly reach out to one another.
