Trailer Camp

Running time: 75 mins

Many things in the world have not been named; and many things, even if they have been named, have never been described. One of these is the sensibility - unmistakably modern, a variant of sophistication but hardly identical with it - that goes by the cult name of "Camp."

Susan Sontag, Notes on "Camp":

Yeah, what is Camp exactly? You tell yourself you know it when
you see it. Like Ru Paul and Tammy Faye
Whatever-her-name-is-now. Or is one Camp and the other just
vulgar? It can get so confusing: even dangerous. One misstep -
or "misspeak" - and you've offended every drag queen in a five
mile radius. It's a minefield out there. Where to find guidance?
Perhaps I can offer a suggestion. It's called Trailer Camp.
Think of it as a cinematic Cliffs Notes on "Camp."

From What Ever Happened to Baby Jane to Pee Wee's Big Adventure, Trailer Camp celebrates a half-century of cinema's Camp classics. Just sit back and enjoy this rapid fire roll call of unforgettable outrageous trailers. And, as if abiding by some obscure filmic purity law - kosher cinema? - you get them in a no nonsense, unadulterated form. No voice-overs, high-minded commentary or experts holding forth: just the goods. Baby-doll makeup, disco-delirium, Michael Jackson and Pee Wee Herman. Don't pass this up! PBS was never this much fun.
