I Know Who You Are
Running time: 104 mins
Sensually filmed in dark, mysterious tones, this taut thriller by first-time feature director Patricia Ferreira effortlessly captures the tension and intensity that lesser artists can fruitlessly try decades to secure. Rich performances by the two leads instantly draw us into the story of Mario, a charming and harmless mental patient with a rare disease called Korsakov's Syndrome, an illness which makes him suffer amnesia-like symptoms causing him to forget even the most recent of events. Paloma (played to perfection by Ana Fernandez of Solas) is equally engaging as his new doctor, who will stop at nothing to uncover the cryptic man's past. Unfortunately, Paloma is not the only one interested in Mario's history, and even while attempting to uncover the truth behind her companion's sickness, the two must avoid sinister agents of a conspiracy bent on keeping Mario's secrets hidden any way they can. Awash with the theme of memory lost and found, I Know Who You Are weaves together its complex characters to create a shining entry to its genre - one that is not so easy to forget.
