Getting Home

Running time: 97 mins

When a life-long friendship is strong and true, not even death can intervene.

Longtime workmates and pals Zhao and Liu Quanyou are enjoying a drink together, engaged in their usual banter, when Liu falls strangely silent. Zhao tries to re-energize the conversation before suddenly realizing that his friend has died. Although there was no time for Liu?s last wishes, Zhao knows there is only one honorable thing to do and that is to take his friend home.

As his journey unfolds and Zhao encounters indifference, fear, and hostility when people along the way realize his traveling companion is a cadaver, he must invent increasingly clever ways to get his friend home. Multi-layered and laced with comedic commentary on rural life in modern China, Getting Home is a road movie unlike any other. With superlative performances and deadpan irony, it packs an emotional wallop that will have you laughing and crying, often at the same time.
