Shorts Program 9: Home and Away

Running time: 106 mins

Whether its documentary, animation, experimental, Home & Away looks at the idea of place as a role in identity, of home as one of the most fluid of all the things we assign the world around us, of the ways that ‘home’ may become ‘away.’ The interplay between these films exposes how each reinforces the idea of being both, on the inside and outside, and how we can flow between the two, sometimes turning ourselves into the focus of a new spotlight. The hyper-real and the fantastical define Home & Away, and ultimately ask the question, “what is this place?”– Chris Garcia
