DIGITAL MEDIA FORUM III: High-End, Low-Budget DV Cinema
Running time: N/A
48 Hour Moviemaking. Delivered to you by Panasonic Broadcast and Avid. Is it possible to create a sophisticated, professional movie - from conception, production, editing to screen - in just two days? With use of Panasonic's DV to DVD solution and Avid's Xpress Pro editing technologies, participating Cinequest artists will deliver a high-quality movie with an inexpensive budget, within 48 hours of the festival. Then, Panasonic's Stuart English and Avid will present a very special forum demonstrating both the movie as well as the extremely affordable yet high-end technologies used to make it. They have to turn out something great - from conception, production, editing to screen - in just two days. Not a home movie that a group of neighborhood kids could put together with an old Super 8 from Grandma's attic, but something professional, entertaining and Maverick. A filmmaking team consisting of Cinequest directors, film professionals, editors and actors will utilize a cutting-edge Panasonic DVX-100 (DV-24p) or SDX-100 (24p) digital camera to capture a short film. The team will then edit using Avid's Xpress Pro software, and the final product will be pressed on affordable DVDs via Panasonic. The dynamic moviemaking forum will explore the technologies and present the methods and strategies used to create the short film. Filmmakers will also be on hand to answer questions and offer user feedback. Presenters: Stuart English, Vice Presiden Panasonic Broadcast. Avid Technology, Inc.
